MADERA OVERSIGHT COALITION  DONATES  $25,000 To Friends of the Oakhurst Branch Library

to benefit the local library

Madera Oversight Coalition (MOC) presented a check for $25,000 to the Friends of the Oakhurst Branch Library for the benefit of the local library.
The presentation took place in the Library Community Room where MOC meets.
According to MOC Treasurer William Whitehead, the donation is from money recovered in previous litigations in which MOC was involved now being used for educational projects in Eastern Madera County.
“It is a pleasure for MOC to make this donation to the Oakhurst Library. After all, we’ve been using their facilities for our meetings for the past 15 years at no cost,” he said.
Madera County Librarian Patrick Fitzgerald, Oakhurst Library Branch Manager Dale Rushing, North Fork Library Branch Manager, and FOBL Board President Laurie B. Ballard were present to accept the donation.

$10, 000 is designated for DVDs and a Books on Tape security system.

$10,000 is designated for a KAJEET System to connect 10 families with Chromebooks and Smart Spots and to provide Wi-Fi-for a 2 year period.  Chromebooks will return to the library.
$5,000 is designated for A-Frame signs  to advertise library events and for directional signs for book genres within the library.
In addition, MOC is petitioning Madera County to grade and pave the parking area outside the Library Community Room!

“The main purpose is to help students without Internet access at home do their Internet assignments at home. The library’s website has many trusted search engines that have true databases students with a library card can access if they have the Internet,” she explained. The balance of the donation will be used to purchase other library items, she added.
Oakhurst Library and Friends of the Oakhurst Branch Library and North Fork branch library  are thrilled and grateful to MOC for this donation!

The primary objective of MOC is to encourage responsible growth through adherence to Madera County General Plan Policies, California Land Use Law and to promote the health, safety and welfare for all within Madera County.
