and Dianne Sivulka came up with the idea for a family website builder while on vacation in Europe with their children.
Dianne wanted to keep friends and family up to date with what they were doing in Italy, and kept asking Steve to update their family website nightly.
After a few updates, they both realized the process was too complicated and taking far too much time. An idea sprung to life. They needed a faster,
easier way to use the web to stay connected with their inner circle. Steve and Dianne realized other families must experience the same problems trying to
share updates on vacations, weddings, reunions or other important events - especially if they didn't have technical backgrounds or a lot of time on their hands.
Steve, with his extensive programming and technology background, started developing a turnkey website service that would enable individuals to easily create and update their sites on their own. As far as computers went, Dianne knew Microsoft Word, how to e-mail and how to buy things (thanks Amazon). So she was the perfect person to provide input on what would make a website attractive and easy to use. Additionally, she had the valuable perspective of a busy mom who has to make every minute count, between home schooling the kids, shuttling them to activities, and running a household. The Sivulkas knew that although moms work hard to keep families connected, they have very little time on their hands. For moms, creating and maintaining a family website had to be a quick and easy process. Steve built a sample website for Dianne to try. She absolutely loved it and immediately started showing her friends how the new site worked. Once they saw it, they all wanted their own sites and Easysite was born. Now with over 100,000 sites built, Easysite is quickly becoming a leading provider of turnkey family websites. About the Founders Steve Sivulka has been a successful entrepreneur/nerd for over 10 years. He started programming when he was eleven so he could learn how to make video games. His consulting company, Akluvis, boasts a client roster that includes Universal Pictures, The Men's Warehouse, Toyota Motor Corporation and American Honda Motor Company. Steve specializes in website development, software design and web-based training. In 2001 Steve launched StupidVideos.com, an online catalog of humorous video clips. Sold in 2005, StupidVideos had become one of the Internet's most highly trafficked sites with over 200,000 visitors and over 2,000,000 video plays per day. Dianne Sivulka was a middle school educator for over 11 years, teaching English literature and world history. She is now a full-time mom to two young children, while also running the Easysite business with Steve. Dianne utilizes her organizational and public speaking talents to help market Easysite, interfacing with news media and presenting at tradeshows and conventions. She currently volunteers in the women's ministries at North Coast Church in Vista, California, where she oversees event/retreat planning, organizes fundraising events for local nonprofits, and emcees the church's weekend services. Dianne also helped start the Pregnancy Resource Center of North County San Diego, a Christian-based center dedicated to educating young women. After its opening, Dianne served on the center's board for five years. She most enjoys being mom to her two boys, traveling, cooking, scrapbooking, competing in triathlons and long distance running. Always on the go, Dianne recently returned from Rome where she completed her first marathon. What can you do with Easysite? Family spread out?
